David Datro Fofana was defiant that the Clarets will never give up following a hard-fought draw at the London Stadium.
Speaking at full-time, the forward who fired Burnley ahead early on, said he was pleased to get his name on the scoresheet and emphasised the need to take the positives from the performance into the next game.
“I’m feeling not bad, but I’m also upset for the last goal. I cannot be mad at my teammates, it was tough, we were working hard. I know at the end we were getting tired. This is football so we just have to stay together and keep working hard.”
His early strike from 25-yards-out is his third goal for Burnley. How did it feel fire the team into the lead?
“You know, you’re always feeling good when you score. But I can say it’s not my goal its all of the team’s. Because it was brilliant in the first half. I’m happy for it.”
Two goals down West Ham United came out fighting after the break in a bid to get back into the game.
“In the second half it was a bit difficult for us. We wanted to defend and when you’re defending against this team you have to be smart and everything. They scored two goals and there’s a chance there because it was offside.
“But next time we have to be smart and work hard because you see against Antonio, Paqueta it’s difficult to defend against them. We’ll continue to work hard and listen to the coach because he was a defender. We have to work harder and see what happens in the next game.”
Both sides came close to claiming the victory as the chances kept coming until the final whistle and Fofana is taking the positives from creating so many opportunities.
“We created a lot of chances, we let in goals, but we never gave up. We will keep working to do the same thing for the next game, again, again, again. Because if you create chances, like today we had a lot of chances to score. We’ll keep working on this and then we’ll see.”
