As home debuts go, David Fofana made quite the impression at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon when his two goals earned the Clarets a point against Fulham.
Two nil down Burnley had a mountain to climb and the striker, who signed for the Club in the January transfer window, made his mark netting two second half goals.
Reflecting on the game and his goals, he said: “You know I’m so happy to score two goals and also my first goals with Burnley, I’m so happy with that. I’m here to help the team, so yes, I will try my best to score again.”
His second was secured in the 91st minute, how did it feel to score the equaliser so late on?
“When you score the last goal in the 91st minute, for me, it’s crazy because it’s the last, last, last time, so it was crazy. We did well, I’m so happy with that.”
The Clarets had to show plenty of determination to get back into the game against a confident Fulham side, how important was it to focus, show plenty of spirit and take those key moments when they came?
“Before I came on, the manager said to me the same thing, focus David - we need you, we want you to help the team. Why not also score. I said I will score, I will score because I was like focus on that, to help the team.”
It was the striker's first experience of Turf Moor and it was one to remember.
“It was amazing, it was so good. When I score I always celebrate with the fans, I like it, I like the vibes and everything.”
Finally, arriving in January, Fofana's settling into life in Lancashire well and is enjoying being around his manager and teammates.
“For me they are so good. The manager has been good, also he speaks French, so it’s good for me to understand everything - even if my English is not so good. Also, with the team they are so good, especially because I’m new, my teammates are easy to adapt and everything.”
