Burnley were denied an Emirates FA Cup semi-final spot at Wembley following a 6-0 defeat to the hands of Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad.
Erling Haaland's hat-trick, a brace from Julian Alvarez & Cole Palmer's strike ensured the hosts a place in the last four of the competition.
Manager Vincent Kompany made three changes from the side that beat Hull City 3-1 on Wednesday night in the Sky Bet Championship
Lyle Foster replaced Ashley Barnes in attack, Peacock-Farrell came in for Arijanet Muric and Ameen Al-Dakhil in for Hjalmar Ekdal.
First Half
No chances were created for either side in the opening 15 minutes of the game, with City enjoying plenty of the ball as the Clarets settled into the tie.
Burnley forced their first corner of the game when Zaroury picked out Tella in a dangerous position outside the area, but the inform forward saw his strike pushed wide from Ortega.
Kompany’s men were finding their feet and Tella was played in once again in the area, only for Dias to slide the ball out for another corner.
The hosts put their foot on the gas with half an hour played and looked to carve open the first goal when Haaland saw his towering header at the back post cleared from danger.
Then just four minutes later City did break the deadlock when Alvarez slipped in Haaland with a through ball and the Norwegian forward slotted coolly under the body of Peacock-Farrell.
Pep Guardiola’s men had their second shortly after when Foden flashed a pass across the face of goal for Haaland to curl his second into the back of the net from close range.
Maatsen then had the last chance of the half when his close-range strike was palmed over the bar from Ortega.
Second Half
Kompany turned to his bench at the break and introduced the experienced duo of Jack Cork and Ashley Barnes for Gudmundsson and Foster as the visitors looked for a way back into it.
City had a chance to triple their lead 10 minutes into the second half when Walker found Foden inside the box but the 22-year-old’s effort was denied by the legs of Peacock-Farrell.
Haaland was then denied a third when the inform striker cut inside past Beyer and forced Peacock-Farrell into a smart save once again.
All the action from the Etihad Stadium
But Haaland did seal his hat-trick on the hour mark when Foden’s shot bounced off the post into the path of the Norway forward to slam home into the roof of the net.
Just three minutes later Haaland then turned provider and teed up Alvarez from close range to fire in a fourth goal of the evening.
Substitute Cole Palmer added a fifth after being introduced five minutes prior, before Alvarez then slotted home a sixth of the tie after racing through on goal and firing past Peacock-Farrell.
