Burnley Football Club can confirm that Connor Edwards has signed his first professional contract running until the summer of 2028.

The young goalkeeper has been training with the first team on a regular basis this season and recently earned international recognition with England, being involved in a U19 training camp.

After putting pen to paper, he said: “I’m over the moon; it’s been a dream of mine since I was a little boy playing football in the back garden with my brother.

“It’s a proud moment for my family too, especially being at a club like Burnley.

“I’m fortunate enough to be in and around the first team environment every day and that’s been great for my learning.

“We had a great season overall with the U18s last season too, and hopefully I can keep improving.”

Originally from Chorley, Edwards joined the Clarets at U14s level from grassroots football.

The shot stopper is currently in the second year of his scholarship and was a key part in last season’s U18 Professional Development League North title winning side.

Now 18, this season has seen Edwards support the first team’s training sessions alongside playing for Tony Philliskirk’s U18s.

The ‘keeper was in goal for the team’s recent FA Youth Cup third round victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, keeping a clean sheet as the tie finished 2-0.

Academy Manager Chris Casper added: “We’re really pleased that Connor has committed his future to the Club having made a strong start to his scholarship.

“With continued hard work I’m confident that he’ll continue to develop, and I look forward to seeing him fulfil his potential with us.”
