Fabinho’s close-range winner five minutes before half-time earned Jurgen Klopp’s Reds all three points despite an encouraging display from the Clarets.
Dyche on the performance and result:
“From our point of view, it’s a good performance against a good Liverpool side. I thought that we took the game to them and in the first-half, we created some amazing chances against the quality of this opposition with some very good play.
“Building on the last three games, we’ve had a real firm mentality towards it and working in front of the right crowd, they get behind us, and it’s head-scratching today because I thought we deserved more than we got from the game.
“That’s the challenge of the season and it’s the story of our season. We’ve had some really good chances in the first-half particularly and not taken them. Wout has done great for us, he looks like he will turn into a really good player for us, and Jay has a golden chance as well.

Dyche on squad mentality:
“We looked a threat, and I think we conceded a soft goal. We didn’t react as quick as they did, but we came out into the second-half with the right mentality.
“There is a belief in what we do, we were really good today, and we have to keep doing that on the back of a good run of form and points, because that’s really important.
“I thought we were excellent and created by far the better chances against a top-class side, and the energy was fantastic with three games in a week.
“The mentality is strong, our two midfielders were excellent today, Wout has made an obvious impact so there’s a lot of good signs, and the message is we have to make sure that we add in those moments when we have fantastic chances.”

Dyche on player fitness:
We’ll have to wait and see with Wout, and Maxwel is still not fully fit but there’s risk and reward with him. Barnesy is coming back to fitness, we’ve still got Vydra coming back from fitness and Charlie Taylor.
“One of the biggest things is keeping the squad fit. All season we’ve had Covid and injuries, we’ve had players back fit, Maxwel is still struggling, we had to take Wout off and Barnesy had 45 and 60 minutes recently, and we’ve had to use him.”
Dyche on the supporters:
“The fans have been terrific, and it’s not been easy so far, but there’s a belief here in the team, and the fans know that.”
