Manager Sean Dyche was full of praise for his Burnley side as they earned a second straight Premier League victory by beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Turf Moor on Wednesday.
A fine 72nd minute header from captain Ben Mee proved the decisive moment against Antonio Conte’s men, to continue the Clarets’ winning run.
Dyche on the three points
“I think they continued the run of form that they are in, the belief, the mentality, the work ethic and the shape, all the things that you need when you play against these sorts of sides and play well and get a result.
“I think all the details, the worth ethic we’ve shown this season is beginning to show, and the players deserve credit.
“They are a top side with quality players all over the pitch, I thought the mentality was good, we kept them down to three or four quality chances and we had a few ourselves, on another day, Jay scores and it’s a big step forward.”
Dyche on continuing momentum
“It just continues the value of the good work that the players put in. We’re proud of the players, the work ethic is there, we’ve got the belief and the energy to get results.
“To play four of the top clubs in the division and to take the points we have done, it’s a good return so we mentioned what a tough run it was, so to take nine points out of those six games, we’ve kept four clean sheets.
“We have plenty of work to do, but it was a pleasing performance and there’s plenty to build on.”
Dyche on player performances
“Wout adds to what we do with his hold-up play and his talent, but I thought Jay was sharp tonight, I thought that those two were excellent.
“There were so many good performances, Dwight McNeil put some good crosses in, I could name everyone, our captain with a fine header, so there were lots of positives.”
Dyche on the supporters
“The crowd have been terrific. It’s been a tough season so far, there’s still work to be done but the crowd have played your part in the conditions down there, screaming the players on.”
