Jay Rodriguez’s 100th career league goal, three minutes after half-time, earned a point after Paul Pogba’s first-half opener.
Dyche on the result and performance:
“We’re not flying at the minute that’s for sure, we are putting a lot of work into our performances. We were playing a good side in Manchester United, and we were a bit subservient, so I just reminded them of the belief that I have in them and how they can play.
“We were too direct at the start of the game, partly by just getting carried away with it and we changed it eventually at the start of the second-half, so I was very pleased with the players reaction.
“We had some good play. Wout was excellent with his hold-up play and wing play which we think he can add, and Jay’s work rate. In the second-half, we tried to progress and tried to score goals while being defensive, and when you speak at half-time you want a reaction, and we got a reaction.

“I was pleased with the performance in the second-half and it is something to build on.
“Our defensive unit kept us in it in the first-half, and the way that we started the second-half with belief and the challenges; I’m pleased with the second-half and how it has gone.
“We’ll keep learning. Popey and the defensive backline were resilient and in the second-half, the two centre-forwards came to the table, and we found our balance.”
Dyche on Jay Rodriguez’s goal:
It was a calm finish from Jay, I thought he worked very hard and deserved his goal. He was unlucky not to start on Saturday.

Dyche on the current form:
“It’s not easy with the games we are coming off at the minute, but a clean sheet at Arsenal, we went closer and closer, created some good chances against Watford and got a good point against Manchester United, so we’ll keep going.
“You want to keep that form and that feeling going, and there is a belief and a strength in what we are trying to achieve, that will improve. Maxwel will get fitter, he’s hardly played in weeks, and players will start to get back to fitness.”
Dyche on fitness and belief:
“Maxwel was just a knock; we’re having to get him through the best we can.
“There’s sometimes not a major lack of belief, it’s just that edge of confidence that drifts a little but in the first-half, when we conceded you are looking for a reaction, and I thought we did in the second-half.”
