Halil Dervişoğlu was buzzing to have netted the Clarets last-gasp winner in the 3-2 victory over Rotherham United at Turf Moor.
Scoring his first goal for the Club, the Turkish striker came off the bench to seal three points in an action-packed game at Turf Moor with virtually the last kick of the game.
Post-match, he discussed the feeling of the ball hitting the back of the net, the team’s spirit, and Saturday’s game at Sheffield United.
Dervişoğlu on the winning goal:
“It was amazing, of course! It’s been a crazy week with our comebacks. Today it’s me [that scored the winner], in the last game [against Reading] it was Anass [Zaroury], so everyone is giving something for us to get a goal.
“Today, it was me and I’m happy.”
Dervişoğlu on coming from behind again:
“It’s very important because it shows the spirit of the team, and it’s not just one or two games where we’ve done this.
“To do it two games in a row shows we have the right spirit, and if you look at those games, they were ones that we deserved to win so we’re happy as a team.”
Dervişoğlu on Lancashire life:
“It’s good. My teammates are nice, the people here are fantastic, and everything’s good.”
Dervişoğlu on the Clarets support:
“It’s incredible how they support us every game, and I’m happy that as a team we can pay them back with wins, but we also try to play good football.
“If they keep supporting us like this, and we keep doing what we’re doing, then I hope we will make the gap [at the top of the table] bigger.”
Dervişoğlu on Sheffield United:
“We’re just going to do what we do, and keep improving on that. I have strong belief in this team when we do what we normally do.
“If we can do that [on Saturday], then we have a big chance.”
