Midfielder reflects on point on the road

Burnley played out a goalless draw at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday and whilst disappointed not to be taking home all three points, Josh Cullen said that any point taken away from home in the Championship should be respected.

When asked if he was feeling frustrated not to claim the win on the day though, he said: “Yes, I think that’s every game. Of course our ambition in every game is to get three points but at a team that has won every game at home so far this season, we knew it was going to be a tough test coming here.

“It was one of those days, we tried as much as we could but couldn’t quite get the goal that should have won us the game in the end.”

Oxford have enjoyed good form at home so far this season, heading into the game unbeaten at Kassam Stadium. With each team in this division posing a different challenge was it just a case of not being able to break them down on the day?

“Yes, and we’ve got to remember that we’re still quite a fresh team together, a lot of new players coming into the team. We’ll keep working but it’s been a positive start to the season. Recover now because we’ve got a big game on Tuesday. Take the point and move on.”

Indeed, the Clarets don't have long until they go again, with the games stacking up. Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End are both set to visit Turf Moor this week. So, what's the midfielder's mindset heading into those two games?

“Exactly the same as today, recover as well as we can now. Prepare for Plymouth like we would any other team and look forward to getting back out in front of our home fans on Tuesday night. Back-to-back home games now. And as we know from last time we were in the Championship a point away in the Championship should always be respected. So, of course we would have loved to have come and got three points today, it wasn’t to be and now we’ve got two home games which hopefully we can pick up some wins.”
