Midfielder Jack Cork discusses the Clarets 2-0 loss at home to Manchester City, Wednesday night’s game against Everton and the key role of the Clarets fans in the remaining Premier League games
Cork on City defeat:
“It’s obviously disappointing for us to lose the game. We limited their chances in the first half and it was just disappointing the manner that the goals went in. I think they only had three chances in the first half, and two of them have gone in.
“We’ve been working on a shape for a while and to concede within five minutes is hard to get your head around.
“We were hoping that we could frustrate them, keep them out for a long time, get them in a position where they were panicking and needing to score so that it’d open up for us. It didn’t work like that, and that’s just how football goes sometimes.
“Everyone’s heads are focused on Wednesday now. The next 10 games are massively important.”

Cork on the quality in Pep Guardiola’s side:
“They’ve always been [quality] for the last five seasons that I’ve been here. Every time I’ve played them, it’s been difficult.
“We played them at their place earlier in the season and we were pretty good, we could’ve taken something from the game.
“Today we tried to setup in a certain way but conceded early which completely changed the game and that was hard for us.”
Cork on Everton’s visit:
“It’s a huge game in the season. We know what’s at stake, it’s a massive game and it’s going to bring us closer to the teams above us if we can get the points.
“Everyone knows how big it is, everyone knows what’s at stake and hopefully we can get a result.

“I know from the first game of the season [against them] that we were brilliant in the first half but just had a 10/15-minute period where we let it get away from us.
“Hopefully, [on Wednesday], we can play like we did in that first half and take it through the whole game.
On the Burnley backing at Turf Moor:
“We need everyone in here shouting, singing, and making Everton as nervous as they can be.
“Hopefully they’ll feel what a tough place this can be when they come here.”
