While Sunday’s East Lancashire Derby saw success for the Clarets on the pitch, off the pitch the Club want to thank supporters of both teams for their cooperation on the day.
The fixture saw a comprehensive operation involving an increased number of police, stewards, a change in access routes and enhanced security measures. The Club appreciate supporters’ cooperation.
The vast majority of the 21,747 fans in attendance behaved appropriately, however there were a small number of incidents reported at the game.
In conjunction with Lancashire Police, the reported incidents will be investigated thoroughly, with footage reviewed and appropriate action taken against the individuals involved, whose actions were unacceptable.

Doug Metcalfe, Director of Operations at Burnley Football Club said: “Sunday’s game saw the biggest fixture operation that the Club had ever delivered and the largest single day operation for Lancashire Police in eighteen years.
“There was an enhanced amount of information delivered before the game and I want to thank supporters for their assistance in adhering to stadium safety and security protocols.
“While rivalry and spirits were high, only a small minority of supporters’ behaviour fell short of what we as a Club expect, and these isolated incidents will be investigated, and appropriate action taken.
“I want to make special mention of the Remembrance Day activities, including the minute’s silence before the game, which was impeccably observed by both sets of supporters. They were a credit to both Clubs.
“The East Lancashire Derby was always set to be a memorable occasion and I’m pleased that together with Lancashire Police, Blackburn Rovers, specialist units and the various agencies involved, that we delivered a well-attended, safe and enjoyable fixture.”
