Burnley FC and Burnley FC in the Community are proud to continue supporting the Level Playing Field 'Unite for Access' campaign. This annual event celebrates and promotes good access and inclusion at sports venues.

The 2025 campaign focuses on raising awareness and driving equality for a more inclusive matchday experience for disabled sports fans. Each year, the campaign highlights the importance of watching live sport for disabled supporters and showcases what clubs do to enhance this experience.

This is an ongoing area of work for the Club. Here are some initiatives we've undertaken over the past year:

Burnley Football Club and Burnley FC in the Community launch Sensory Rooms

In 2024, the Club launched a brand-new sensory room at Turf Moor. This specially designed space caters to those with special educational needs or sensory processing issues, allowing them to watch Burnley FC matches away from the noise of the crowds.

The Sensory Room offers a safe and calming environment with unrestricted views of the pitch from behind a sound-proof glass window.

Additionally, Burnley FC in the Community opened a second sensory room at their facility, The Leisure Box. This space provides young people with a place to take a break or rest during their disability sport community sessions.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Limitless Clarets continues to grow

Burnley FC in the Community’s Limitless Clarets programme offers free football, multi-sports, sensory, and wheelchair sport sessions across East Lancashire for young people aged 5 to 18 with Special Educational Needs, Impairments, or Disabilities.

The programme has grown significantly, from 35 participants in 2022 to now engaging with over 500 young people. All sessions are completely free of charge, and we encourage as many young people as possible to come and join in the fun.

This season, the programme has already been visited by Scott Parker and the players!

Scott Parker visits Holly Grove Primary School

In November, Scott Parker visited Holly Grove Primary School where Burnley FC in the Community’s disability programme, Limitless Clarets, is making a significant impact.

During his visit, Parker participated in a lively Q&A session with the children, who had prepared questions. He also joined in a paper aeroplane-making contest and took part in the sports session.

Speaking afterwards, the Clarets Head Coach said: “We walked around the classrooms, saw the exercises the kids were doing, and experienced some ruthless questions from them! It’s a special place and it opens your eyes a bit. Bringing a smile to these kids' faces and showing a more human side is why we’re here. They probably see you differently, and hopefully, they see me differently on the touchline.”

Men’s team celebrate International Sign Language Day

In September, Josh Laurent, Bashir Humphreys, and Jaidon Anthony visited Burnley FC in the Community’s Limitless Clarets Schools Project at The Leisure Box. They met students from Pendle Vale Community High School to celebrate International Sign Languages Day. The students taught the players various well-known Burnley FC phrases, including “Up the Clarets” and “Come on Burnley,” in British Sign Language.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Youth Engagement Manager, Lewis Hickie said: "The players went above and beyond for our young people, fully engaging in the session focused on International Sign Language Day. We taught them a variety of signs, and we hope to see some of these used in celebrations on the pitch one day!”
