Burnley FC Women have made an exciting addition to their squad with the signing of Abby Clarke.
The 19-year-old midfielder joins the team on a free transfer following her time with Everton, where she had been since the age of nine and signed her professional contract last year.
Her senior Toffees debut came in a Continental Tyres League Cup clash with Durham in December 2022, and a league debut followed against Manchester City six months later.
The midfielder now links up with Rebecca Sawiuk’s Clarets, signing until the end of the 2023/24 season.
After sealing the deal, Clarke said: “As a Burnley fan, I’m over the moon!
“I’ve got a lot of memories supporting the Club – I remember getting a shirt every year from the age of four right through until 15.
“With the backing that has been put into the women’s game here there has been a clear progression and I think it will continue to grow and grow, so it’s a good place to be.
“I’m familiar with some of the players here, I've played Futsal with Leah Embley before, and I know Aimee Kelly and Lucy Walsh from the Everton Academy.
“Hopefully I can get out on the pitch and enjoy playing football as soon as possible.”
Lola Ogunbote, Burnley’s Head of Women’s Football, added: “Abby is a player that we know well.
“Her qualities are evident, having been contracted to a WSL club, and we believe that she can give the squad a boost as we prepare for the final few months of the season.
“I look forward to seeing her pull on a Clarets shirt in the not-too-distant future.”
Clarke will wear the number 29 shirt for Burnley.
