Latest survey on the Club's charity support, as we plan for next season
As a football club, we support many charity initiatives throughout the course of the season but we are aware of the hundreds of charities out in the community that need further help and support.
To ensure that the charities are chosen and supported in a way that is meaningful and impactful to supporters, the most recent Clarets View survey will help shape the Club's charity strategy for the 2022/23 season.
Asking about the various initiatives that have happened this season, 94% of respondents said they has seen us support No Room for Racism, 87% said they’d seen the Rainbow Laces campaign and 80% remembered the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
This response shows the Premier League supported campaigns have been widely recognised and the activations Burnley FC were involved with were widely impactful.
When thinking more specifically about Burnley FC's official charity, Burnley FC in the Community, we asked how supporters would like to see us support the charity going forward. A total of 61% of respondents said they would like us to share Burnley FC in the Community stories on social media and the Club website and 60% of supporters said via the matchday programme.
To help us identify how supporters would like to help charities, we asked Clarets View about their own charitable habits. A high number of 92% said they had donated money to charity in the last 12 months and 75% said they had given goods to charity.
Throughout the season the Club have fundraised for various charities including Tommy’s, Autism Awareness, Burnley FC in the Community and donations to the foodbank remain a key part of the prematch build-up.
Next season we really want supporters to have a say in how we plan our charitable support so we asked how fans would like to see us engage with charities. A total of 80% said that charities should be promoted on matchday, 65% said to raffle or auction merchandise to raise money for selected charities and 53% that a portion of shirt or product sales should be given to charity.

Over the past few years the “third” shirt has been used as a way of highlighting charities with £38,000 being raised for the Alzheimer’s Society this season.
Finally, we asked the survey respondents what types of charities they see as the most important for us to support next season and 76% of the fans said mental health awareness organisations. The same number of fans also said charities that support children and young people.
Fan Experience Manager, Harriet Harbidge, said: “We have a huge responsibility to be raising awareness and supporting charities through the Club's platform and no one would argue that its vital this continues.
"However, we are really keen to make this support and engagement impactful for both the fans and the organisations we are involved in.
"I am really pleased that Clarets View has been able to be used as a tool in the planning of our charity support going forward. We want to thank the fans involved in completing the survey and sharing their thoughts. As ever, its been really insightful and we are confident will be a key driver in the club's charitable plans next season.”
