Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of striker Andréas Hountondji on a four-year deal from French side Caen for an undisclosed fee.
The Benin international forward joins the Clarets following a prolific campaign in Ligue 2 last season on loan with Rodez, which saw the 22-year-old score 16 goals in all competitions.
After making the move to Turf Moor, Hountondji said: “I feel excited! I chose to come here because of the big interest shown from the Club.
“It’s a Club that gives opportunities to young players, so this is one of the big reasons I chose to be here, and I love English football.
“I have spoken with the boss and it was quite a good discussion. We spoke about values, principles, and the way we play, it was perfect for me.”
The striker was born and raised in the Montry area of France to a Beninese father and French mother and after joining Caen’s academy as a youngster, signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2019.
Following a successful spell in Caen’s reserve side, he made his professional debut in April 2021 against Pau FC.
Hountondji, who has six international caps for Benin, also had loan spells with Quevilly-Rouen for the first half of the 2022/23 season and Orleans for the second part of the campaign.
His final season in France last year saw the forward score 14 league goals in Ligue 2 with Rodez, before joining Burnley this summer in a permanent move.
