08/12/2007 - Wolves 2 - 3 Burnley (Molineux)

The Clarets continued their impressive form and extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to six games with a 3-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux.

Burnley took the lead with 20 minutes played through Robbie Blake, before the hosts replied through Darron Gibson's effort just four minutes later.

Striker Kyle Lafferty then regained the Clarets' lead on the half-hour mark and a Darren Ward own goal just before the break extended Owen Coyle's side's lead in the midlands. Stephen Elliott slammed home a penalty on the hour, but the Clarets stood strong to hold on to all three points.

After a quiet start at Molineux, the away side had their opener when Blake lined-up a free-kick, which just about found it's way under the hands of Wolves keeper' Wayne Hennessey to put Burnley ahead.

However, the lead didn't last for long though, as the Irish duo of Stephen Ward and Gibson combined to grab the equaliser, with the latter turning home Ward's fizzing cross into the area to pull the scores level.

In what was turning out to be a lively first-half, the Clarets were then back in front with 30 minutes on the clock when Lafferty arrived at the back post unmarked to slot home from close range.

With half-time approaching, the visitors added a third goal of the evening as Wolves defender Ward turned the ball into his own goal to extend the Clarets' advantage.

Burnley came out in the second half with the 3-1 lead and tried to add to that scoreline, until the home side were given a lifeline when Andy Gray was adjudged to have fouled Seyi Olofinjana inside the area.

Wanderers forward Stephen Elliott stepped up to the penalty spot and slammed home past Gabor Kiraly, but it proved not to be enough for Wolves, as the Clarets kept the hosts at bay to hold on for the victory.
