31/03/2018 - West Brom 1 - 2 Burnley (The Hawthorns)
Goals from Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood saw the Clarets secure a third successive win in the Premier League, as Burnley moved another step closer to securing UEFA Europa League football.
Barnes gave the Clarets the lead with an excellent acrobatic effort in the first-half, before Wood doubled the visitors' lead in the 73rd minute.
Salomon Rondon did pull a goal back for the Baggies, but it wasn't enough as Burnley edged nearer to securing a 7th place in the top-flight.
Albion started the game brightly and had an early chance when Allan Nyom picked out Jay Rodriguez inside the area, with the now-Burnley forward flicking it on for Rondon, but the striker could only guide his header into the hands of Nick Pope.
However, it was the away side who broke the deadlock midway through the first-half, as Aaron Lennon broke down the right and stood up a perfect cross into the area, which saw Barnes peel away from Nyom and connect with an over-head kick to pick out the top corner and give the Clarets the lead.
The Baggies looked to respond to going a goal down when Kieran Gibbs found the lively Rondon inside the box with a well-timed long ball, but Pope was there again to deny the forward an equaliser.
West Brom were pushing to draw the scores level and next up was Rodriguez, but the Burnley-born striker just couldn't connect onto Chris Brunt's teasing cross towards the back-post.
However, despite the hosts applying pressure, it was the Clarets who added a second and looked to put the game out of sight with just under 20 minutes left of the clock.
Matt Lowton broke towards the area and slipped in a great through ball for Wood, who swiped it past Jonny Evans before firing at goal with Ben Foster saving the initial effort, but there was no stopping the New Zealand striker then heading home the rebound.
The home side did claw a goal back seven minutes from time when Rondon brought down Evans' pass and smashed it home into the bottom corner.
Burnley went on to stay in 7th place for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign and ensure Europa League football for the following season.
