16/04/2011 - Burnley 2 - 1 Swansea City (Turf Moor)
The Clarets claimed all three points in a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Turf Moor, as Graham Alexander featured off the bench for his 1000th career appearance.
City forward Fabio Borini gave the Welsh side the lead eight minutes into the second-half, before an Ashley Williams own goal and Chris Eagles penalty ensured the win for the Clarets.
Burnley's afternoon was rounded off in the 87th minute, as Alexander was introduced as a substitute for his 1000th game in English football and the Scotsman nearly capped off his landmark with a goal, after rattling the crossbar in the 90th minute.
The hosts started on the front foot and had an early chance when Eagles fired just wide of the post from the edge of the area, before Andre Bikey then headed narrowly wide of the target.
That sparked a response from City, who went on to strike the post, as Darren Pratley struck the woodwork from just inside the area, before Scott Sinclair's header came off the underside off the crossbar.
Swansea were looking lively with half-time approaching, as Borini then missed an opportunity to put the away side ahead after firing wide of Brian Jensen's goal, but the Italian made no mistake after the break.
Just eight minutes after the restart, the striker on loan from Chelsea broke through the Burnley defence beating the offside trap and after latching onto Pratley's through ball, the forward slotted it calmly past Jensen to give City the lead.
However, that lead didn't last long, as the Clarets equalised just four minutes later when Eagles' effort deflected off Williams and into the back of the net to draw level.
Striker Chris Iwelumo had a chance to put the hosts ahead 10 minutes later, as the Scotsman rose highest to connect onto Daniel Fox's free-kick, but could only head wide of the goal.
The pressure then paid off in the 75th minute, as City defender Angel Rangel clattered into Jay Rodriguez, with the home side awarded a penalty and Eagles was there to step-up and slot home the winning goal.
As the game neared towards the final minutes, Alexander then came on for the winning goalscorer, to mark his 1000th appearance on a special afternoon for the defender.
