25/01/2016 – Burnley 4 – 1 Derby County (Turf Moor)

Three goals inside 12 second-half minutes saw the in-form Clarets leapfrog Derby County and move to third in the Championship table, as well as extending the Rams' winless run to five matches.

County's Richard Keogh headed in Matt Lowton's cross into his own net to give Burnley the lead in the 29th minute, before Jacob Butterfield responded with a 20-yard volley just a minute later.

Andre Gray and Sam Vokes then both scored from the penalty spot just before the hour mark, after referee Michael Oliver award two spot-kicks to the home side in the space of four minutes.

Scott Arfield then rounded the night off with a powerful effort from 25-yards, which bounced off former Claret Jason Shackell and into the back of the net to seal the three points.

Burnley started the game brightly and had their first chance on 17 minutes, when Stephen Ward's teasing cross was met by the head of Vokes, only for Scott Carson to keep it out.

Shackell then saw his looping header land onto the roof of the net as the visitors pushed for the opener, before Burnley broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark.

Lowton whipped a dangerous ball into the area aiming for Vokes, but County defender Keogh beat him to it and could only clear it into his own goal.

That lead didn't last longer than a minute though, as Butterfield replied to going a goal down with a spectacular 20-yard volley from outside the area to pull the scores level.

Derby's Nick Blackman then came close to putting the visitors ahead just before the break, but Tom Heaton was there to tip his effort over the crossbar.

However, just nine minutes into the second-half, Burnley regained their lead and were two goals to the good shortly after, thanks to two penalties in four minutes.

Oliver awarded the first spot-kick after Gray was brought down by Keogh, with the striker then stepping-up to fire home his 17th of the campaign. Before Shackell then handled a cross into the box, with Vokes this time beating Carson from 12-yards out to make it 3-1.

Burnley extended the lead moments later and put the game out of sight, as Arfield rifled an effort from 25-yards out which deflected off Shackell and bounced over the head of Carson.

Derby's Tom Ince came close to clawing a goal back late on for the Rams, before Carson was then forced into action to keep out Gray and deny Burnley a fifth.
