Alan's notes ahead of this afternoon's game

Welcome to Turf Moor for our final game of the season, against Newcastle United. It’s my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to Eddie Howe, the players, staff, directors, and supporters joining us today.

Thursday’s result against Aston Villa means that we go into today’s game knowing that our destiny is in our own hands and that a win will be enough to secure our Premier League status. That is in no small part to an incredible six weeks from Mike, the coaching staff, the players and you, the fans. This has truly been a whole Club effort and whatever happens today, everyone should be very proud.

It is games like today, in front of a sell-out crowd, that create Club history so let’s get behind the players for the full 90 minutes and create that special Turf Moor atmosphere for one last push to write another incredible chapter in the history of Burnley FC.

While it’s hard to take the focus away from on-field matters, as ever, it’s also been another busy week off the pitch. On Wednesday, we celebrated the Club’s 140th anniversary and what a story it’s been! From founder members of the Football League, to winning league titles, an FA Cup, the ‘Orient Game’ and playing in European competition, our fantastic Club has a great history of achievements, creating many memorable moments along the way.

In an exciting development for Burnley FC Women, this week we announced the appointment of our new Head Coach, Jonathan Morgan. Jonathan has winning pedigree, having guided Leicester City Women to the Women’s Super League for the first time in their history, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the Club.

We were also pleased to announce the dates for the Clarets Academy International Cup. Taking place next weekend, sixteen teams from eight different countries will participate in the tournament, hosted at the Burnley FC training ground, and Club partners AiSCOUT will be on site to give insightful data analysis to any potential trialists.

Finally, I feel it’s important to take this opportunity to express my thanks to you for your support this season. Football has many highs and lows, and this season has had plenty of both. However, your unwavering support can never be underestimated, and it’s played a crucial part in our campaign this season. So, I want to end by saying thank you to everyone on in the Clarets family and as we arrive at today’s game, let’s get ready to give the team everything we’ve got for one last time. Together we can.
