Burnley U21s’ Central League Cup final opponents have been confirmed as Derby County, with the tie to take place at Pride Park on Tuesday 7th May.
The young Clarets booked their place in the final of this EFL ‘reserve’ competition with a 4-3 victory over Stockport County earlier this month.
After Vernon Masara opened the scoring at Burnley Training Centre the Hatters fought back to take the lead.
Centre-back Murray Campbell then equalised and Joe Bevan restored our lead before Stockport drew level once more.
Andy Farrell’s team’s resilience then ensured the tie wouldn’t make it to penalties as Benn Ward won it with 10 minutes to play.
Derby County, a Category One Academy that play in Premier League 2, beat Wigan Athletic 4-0 to book their place in the final.
Supporters are welcome to attend the 7pm kick-off and entry is free of charge via the East Stand turnstiles at the home of the Rams.
