Look back ahead of Tuesday night’s quarter-final

Burnley U18s have enjoyed an extremely successful run in this season’s FA Youth Cup to date.

The young Clarets have won all three matches by an aggregate score of 9-1, setting up a quarter-final against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Tuesday 10th March.

Five different players have found the back of the net along the way, and Kian McMahon-Brown leads the way in terms of goals scored with five.

Manager Tony Philliskirk has called on 15 players, with nine of those starting all three games.

The fourth-round victory at Norwich City was a 506-mile round trip from Burnley Training Centre to Carrow Road, while the other two rounds were home draws.

Burnley U18s v Wolverhampton Wanderers U18s | Thursday 4th December 2025

Our scholars entered the competition at the third-round stage, with fellow category one outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers travelling to Burnley Training Centre.

McMahon-Brown opened the scoring with a powerful finish into the top left corner and Dylan Morison doubled our advantage with a smart finish on the stroke of half-time.

Norwich City U18s v Burnley U18s | Monday 19th January 2026

Then came the afore-mentioned trip to Norwich City, with Philliskirk and his players heading to Norfolk full of confidence.

What followed was a dominant display and it was McMahon-Brown who stole the headlines, scoring four goals to quieten the home crowd.

Substitute Braidin Derbyshire added extra gloss to the scoreline as the clock approached 90.

Burnley U18s v Charlton Athletic U18s | Friday 20th February 2026

Our last 16 tie was against Charlton Athletic last month and yet again, it was a night to remember under the lights in Leyland.

It took just four minutes for centre-back Corey King to open the scoring and after a controlled middle third of the game, first-year scholar James Lewis made his mark.

The midfielder came off the bench to produce a fine finish from the edge of the area with his first touch, sparking jubilant celebrations on and off the pitch.
