Claret women kickstart campaign away to Sheffield FC on 15th August
The FA Women’s National League have released the fixtures for the 2021/22 season, with Burnley FC Women travelling to Sheffield FC on the first day of the season.
Following the Sheffield trip on Sunday, 15 August, the women have a tough run of consecutive games against recent top sides Nottingham Forest, Fylde, Derby and Huddersfield.
Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: “We are all looking forward to the start of the league and now the fixtures have been released it’s a real focus for the team and me.
“The past two seasons have been curtailed early due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so we are hoping everything goes well and we can complete the season this year.
“As always, it’s a tough league. Huddersfield and Fylde had really strong campaigns last year, and the new additions to the league, Wolves and Brighouse Town, will both be really difficult games.
“We are looking forward to the first game of the season away to Sheffield and in the coming weeks we will be working hard to ensure that we are focused and prepared to get off to a positive start.”
The claret women play in the FA Women’s National League, the third tier of women’s football, and have big ambitions since coming under operation of Burnley FC.
The club announced a long-term strategy in February, to boost women’s football, with the aim of increasing the team’s presence, infrastructure, and investment.
