Burnley FC Women have lined up four away games to form part of their pre-season scheudle ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
First up, the claret women will travel to Glasgow to face Celtic, of the Scottish Women's Premier League, before visiting FC United Women of the Northwest Women's Regional League Premier.
Sheffield United of the Women's Championship will be the next test, before heading to Merseyside to visit Liverpool Feds of the FA Women's National League Division One North.
The pre-season friendlies come as a welcome return to Manager Matt Bee and the side, who saw the last two seasons curtailed early due to the coronavirus pandemic. The team did enjoy a historic Women's FA Cup run in April culminating in a fourth-round tie against Manchester United Women of the Women's Super League and are feeling invigorated ahead of the pre-season schedule.
It's an exciting time for women's football at Burnley FC, with the women's team being fully integrated into the football club earlier this year. The club pledged its commitment, outling a long-term intention to professionalise women's football and targeting promotion to the FA Women's Championship by 2025.
The team return to training this week as they prepare for the upcoming season in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division, the third tier in the women's football pyramid.
The league fixtures for the upcoming season are due to be released by the FA Women's National League later this month.
Detail around attendance at the games will be announced, in line with opposition clubs, in due course.
