Club support Pledgeball in commitment to the environment

Burnley Football Club are teaming up with environmental charity Pledgeball, in an ongoing effort to be more environmentally friendly.

Pledgeball gives fans the platform to take a stand on sustainability. Supporters can show support for the Clarets by making a pledge to take actions that can make a real difference to protect where we play, help the Club climb the Pledgeball League table and will often have the benefit of saving money and reducing costs as well.

Through the campaign, fans are also being given the chance to win prizes including a signed Burnley FC ball and shirt.

Burnley FC are encouraging supporters to help us improve our Pledgeball League position of 5th last season, a strong position thanks to support from the Sustainable Clarets, and we now aim to take the Pledgeball League title!

The idea is simple: the group of fans who have pledged to save the most carbon emissions by midnight on matchday will see their club win the Pledgeball fixture and climb the league table.

Although it is still early in the season, Pledgeball club Bristol Rovers are the current leaders with Watford FC and Pledgeball League Champions 21/22 Bristol City not far behind.

Matt Hargreaves, Burnley FC’s Facilities Manager said: “At the Club we have been making a conscious effort to be more environmentally aware and sustainable. Initiatives we have introduced include trialling reusable cups on matchdays, reducing our waste consumption and enhancing our energy efficiency.

“We encourage supports to join us in our efforts to help us climb the Pledgeball leadership table and together we can play our part to make a vital difference to the planet.”

Katie Cross, Pledgeball’s founder said "The Burnley fans, led by Sustainable Clarets, were incredible last season ending in the very respectable position of 5th place. It’s going to be a tight race for the top, I can’t wait to see it!"
