Midfielder looks back over the years of the World Cup

In our latest 'World Cup Memories' piece, Josh Brownhill reflects on his stand-out moments, favourite kits, earliest memories and and best player at a World Cup.

The 26-year-old, who will be cheering on England as they look to claim their first World Cup trophy since 1966, admits he has looked back on the success from that year and hopes Gareth Southgate's side can repeat the success this winter.

Brownhill on his favourite World Cup tournament:

"I would have to say the 2018 one, getting to the semi-finals, the closest we have got in my lifetime.

"The buzz around England then, when they were playing was amazing, so would have to say that one."

Brownhill on his favourite player at a World Cup:

"One that stands out for me is James Rodriguez in 2014, his performances we're probably some of the best of his career.

"His performances were very consistent and he scored some great goals too, so yeah James Rodriguez"

Brownhill on his favourite World Cup kit:

"Growing up as a kid, playing in like tournaments and stuff we would have all the national team kits and Brazil is one you would always just associate with the World Cup.

"So i would say probably the majority of the Brazil kits over the tournaments would be my favourite."

Brownhill on his best World Cup team:

I will have to say the 66' England team, to go and win the World Cup, fond memories of watching that back and seeing us win it.

"Obviously not in person, because i wasn't born then! But since then i would say France in 2018, when they won it, they were great."
