Josh Brownhill was proud to captain the Clarets for their visit to Norwich City on Saturday, in what he described was a brilliant team performance away from home.
“I thought we played very well throughout the game. It was always going to be difficult, new manager and new little bit of way of playing. I thought we adapted to it quite well, looking back on the game I think we deserved it - a clean sheet is always a bonus as well.”
The home side had won their last two, making it a tricky fixture for the visitors. However, the Clarets went ahead seven minutes in when Anass Zaroury latched onto a Tim Krul mistake.
“They are in very good form [Norwich], whenever you get an early goal, it always helps, and for us it could have gone, not either way, but they could have had theirs and they could have nicked a goal. We did that from a mistake on their behalf but we’ve got clinical players, Anass in the form that he’s in - in the right area puts it away and I think after that we sort of settled down a bit and took the game by the scruff of the neck.”

The lead was doubled on the 53rd minute with Vitinho making an instant impact off the bench.
“Yeah it was funny obviously him coming on, I watched the ball go in, which was a great ball and trying to see who it is and Vitinho was running off - his first touch. Perfect timing for a substitution I suppose!”
The Clarets number 8 donned the armband in the absence of Jack Cork, and added the leadership role brings him a great sense of pride.
“I enjoy doing it, leading the team out, obviously we’ve got the Captain Jack, and I learn a lot from him. I probably do things in a different way, nothing changes about what I do, I’m the same person and I’m always proud to captain this Club and to walk the team out. It makes it even more special with a win, especially away from home as well, at a tough place.”

The January transfer window saw some new faces join the squad, all of who are settling in well and making an impact.
“They are settling in well. I feel like everybody who’s come in settles in really well and gets off to a flyer, and he deserved a goal today [Hjalmar Ekdal], I thought he was excellent, calm, composed. He’s [Vincent Kompany] obviously brought him in for a reason, because that’s what he can do.
“I felt like everybody did well, like you say a clean sheet. Bailey in net made some important saves and had a really good game and Jordan at the back, and going forward, we were a threat going forward so I think overall everybody to a man was brilliant today.”

The next week will see a double game week for the league leaders, with three home games on the bounce, something the midfielder is looking forward to.
“It’s another exciting week for us, a chance to go through to the next round of the cup. We went away to Ipswich, and they put on a good performance, so we know what they're going to be like, but we’re at home again at Turf Moor and we’ve made that place a fortress this year, so hopefully we can go to Turf Moor and get through.
“It’s another busy week but it’s enjoyable, it’s football games that we like to win.”
