Skipper looks ahead to Friday's trip to Vicarage Road

Captain Josh Brownhill understands the importance of the final few games of the Sky Bet Championship campaign and what it means, but insists he and the team are still taking it 'one game at a time' and not getting distracted by the outside noise that comes with a promotion push.

Burnley travel to Watford on Good Friday before hosting Sheffield United on Easter Monday at Turf Moor and Brownhill says that the full focus and attention is on getting a result at Vicarage Road, before even thinking about taking on the Blades.

Speaking to Clarets+ ahead of the trip down South, the 29-year-old said: "I'm feeling really good, mood in camp is very good actually and we've got ourselves in a very good position, we all understand that.

"It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks left of the season, but the only thing on our mind is winning the next game and that's all we're thinking about right now.

"It's going to be a tough game at Watford this Friday and I know it's cliché, but we really are just taking it each game at a time and focussing on ourselves and what we do.

"What happens elsewhere will happen, but we are just sticking to doing our business and preparing for a tough game on Friday, before even thinking about Monday."

On Friday's opponents Watford, Brownhill added: "They have got a few individual players that are really, really good and really good on the ball and can cause teams lots of problems.

"They've also had some really good results at home this season and got wins against some good sides, so we know we are going to need to be right on our game and be at our best to get any result."

Just over two years ago Brownhill played his part in a win over Watford at Vicarage Road in the fight for survival in the Premier League, after the midfielder smashed home a last minute winner against the Hornets.

Reflecting on that day, he said: "Hopefully, it's not as late this time! That was a special, special day that. I thought we probably would've stayed up that day, which obviously we didn't, but yeah really good memories from that game.

"I think last time we went in the Championship they made it tough and I think we lost that game there. So yeah, it's going to be no different this time around, it's always a tough ground."
