Midfielder has his say on pre-season so far…

Josh Brownhill has praised the impact of new faces as the Clarets prepare for their pre-season trip to Spain next week.

The midfielder is going into his sixth season at Burnley and is happy to be back to work after his summer break.

Speaking to the Club, the 28-year-old assessed the impression that both Scott Parker and his staff have had on the group so far.

“It’s been really good, it’s exciting to be back with the players and getting back into the swing of things.

“With Scott coming in, it’s been great to start understanding his way of playing so we can be prepared for the start of the season.

“He’s a receptive person to talk to and he has strong values, as well as playing a positive style of football.”

Similarly, he was keen to highlight the impact of Henrik Jensen, who has joined the Club as a First Team Assistant Coach from Swedish side Kalmar FF this summer.

“Henrik’s come in and done really well, he speaks well and has a fantastic outlook on the game.

“It’s a good mix of people and hopefully it’s a successful one.”

Ahead of the first team’s trip to Spain, Brownhill stated the importance of getting away in pre-season for the group to get to know each other.

“Being away from home is nice, leaving the bad weather!

“It’s nice to be able to spend more time with people, especially the new lads that have come in. They’ve brought a real sense of excitement.”

The Clarets kick-off their Championship season at Luton Town on Monday 12th August and the midfielder admitted the match poses a real challenge.

“It’s going to be a tough game. There’ll be a real competitive edge, with both teams having been relegated last season.

“We’ve got a new manager and new players, so it could take a little bit of time to bed in, but there’s nothing you want more than to win your first game.”
