Josh Brownhill has been cleared of any major injury concern but may not be ready to face Chelsea on Sunday.
Brownhill sustained a blow to his right foot in Wednesday night’s win over Aston Villa and needed to be replaced at half-time by Jack Cork, who made his 500th appearance in club football.
However, scans have shown no serious damage which should mean no long-term lay-off for the midfielder, who has started all bar one of the Clarets’ Premier League games this season.
“We’ve had it checked out. It’s nothing more serious, but it’s a sore one on his foot,” confirmed manager Sean Dyche.

“We’ll make a decision on him, but we’ll have to consider being cautious with these players because we’ve had so many injuries over the last eight or nine months.”
The trip to Stamford Bridge – where the Clarets will be hunting a hat-trick of Premier League wins – could therefore come too soon for Brownhill.
And the Clarets will also check on defender Charlie Taylor and Ashley Barnes, who both missed the come-from-behind victory over Villa as Burnley reached the half-way stage of the season in 15th place in the table.
“We’re still debating the idea of Charlie,” added Dyche.
“He’s back on the grass and making progress but we’ve got to consider a minor re-injury.
“Luckily it looks like it is minor, so we will still be looking at that.
“Barnesy is very similar. He’s got something that isn’t major.
“We’re having to make big calls on these players because of what’s happened over the last few months.
“We’re having to be over-cautious with these players.”
