Beard adds midfielder to his squad

Burnley Football Club are excited to confirm the signing of women’s team midfielder Deirdre Bradley, who played regularly for Championship side Durham last season.

Bradley has spent the last five years in the northeast after moving from America and totalled 96 appearances in all competitions.

After signing her Clarets contract, Bradley said: “It sounds and feels amazing to be a Burnley player.

“I think Burnley matches my personal ambitions. I want to win things, and hopefully this year that will come to life.

“The set-up, the facilities, the girls and the staff have all been incredible, so to me it (the move) was a no brainer.

“I’m super excited and looking forward to the start of the season, which will be the start of something we hope to finish on a high.”

Bradley’s career started in her native USA, where she played for Old Dominion University before moving to England in 2020.

She quickly established herself at Durham, contributing with key goals and consistent performances in the league and cup competitions.

Now 28, Bradley has also shown her versatility by playing in defence when required.

Born in Pennsylvania, she qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through her parents and featured in a senior Irish squad for the first time last month.

Bradley was an unused substitute for their friendly against the USA in Cincinnati, but the experience is something she describes as ‘amazing’.

With just over two weeks until the start of the 2025/26 Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League season, Bradley is fully integrated into Matt Beard’s squad.
