Although the Clarets suffered a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday it was a memorable moment for South Africa forward Lyle Foster to cherish after grabbing his first goal in the Premier League.
After trailing at the break to Matty Cash's brace, Foster turned and finished superbly from inside the area a minute into the second half to half the deficit before Villa bagged a third on the hour mark through Moussa Diaby.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Foster described his emotions after the game as 'doesn't taste as sweet' but confessed his gratitude for getting off the mark in the top-flight.
The 22-year-old said: “I am very grateful to get my first goal and open my account in the Premier League. It doesn’t taste as sweet as I would have liked, but I’m really happy to get my first goal in the top-flight.
“We pushed for the equaliser and tried to get a second goal after that but it wasn’t meant to be."
Foster added: "It was a difficult game against a very good side. We tried to assert ourselves and we had moments in the game where we tried to do that.
“But the two early goals put us on the back foot and we had to go back to the drawing board. We have to keep going and try to stop conceding early goals as you can get punished in this league."
Foster's goal in the 46th minute was just what the Clarets needed, which then saw Burnley have a heavy swing of momentum as the hosts knocked on the door for an equaliser with debutant Hannes Delcroix seeing his pinpoint header palmed away by Olsen.
However, it was then Diaby that suffered a blow to Vincent Kompany's side and doubled Villa's advantage and Foster admitted he was slightly frustrated the Clarets couldn't capitalise.
“There definitely was a swing in momentum, you could feel it from the crowd too. We had the momentum it’s just unfortunate we couldn’t capitalise on it.
“The manager’s message at half time was to go out and keep playing our football and it will come and I think we tried to do that we just couldn’t find the equaliser.
Foster added: “We have learnt a lot already so far; we have played two really good sides with exceptional players.
“But we are a young squad with really good players and we will work hard to get things right and improve every day."
