• Burnley Football Club announce Utilita as new sponsors of Turf Moor’s Jimmy McIlroy Stand
• The naming rights deal will see the stand renamed as the Utilita Jimmy McIlroy Stand for the 2021/22 season
• The energy supplier will also feature as the shirt sponsor for junior retail kits this upcoming season
We are thrilled to announce leading UK energy supplier Utilita as new title sponsors of the Jimmy McIlroy Stand at Turf Moor.
The stand, completed in 1996 and named in honour of the legendary former Burnley FC and Northern Ireland forward, will be renamed the Utilita Jimmy McIlroy Stand for the 2021/22 season.
The specialist Smart Pay As You Go Energy company will also feature as the front-of-shirt partner on children’s retail kits for the upcoming season in place of men’s first team shirt sponsor Spreadex.
Junior 2021/22 kits will be available for purchase tomorrow at the Clarets Store.
Utilita has a rich history in football, with Burnley FC as one of more than 25 clubs across England, Scotland and Wales in both the men’s and women’s game to have partnered with the brand.
The Clarets will also work on Utilita’s Football Rebooted campaign – a mission to recycle one million pairs of quality football boots across the UK – by installing a boot recycling point at the stand for fans to get involved.
Jem Maidment, Chief Marketing Officer at Utilita, commented: “Utilita is an established football brand, recognised by fans across Britain. Our aim is to educate fans – young and old - on being energy efficient and understanding that the greenest, cheapest, energy is the energy we don’t use.
“We are thrilled to be a part of Burnley’s Premier League journey and look forward to introducing Clarets fans to our Energy High 5 initiative – helping them do their bit for the environment and save a few pounds too – while also encouraging fans to get involved in Football Rebooted; a vitally important campaign to recycle one million pairs of boots.
“We also consider it a genuine honour to become Burnley’s first ever junior shirt sponsor, with our logo on the world famous claret jersey, and have our name associated with the legendary Jimmy McIllroy – a name synonymous with Burnley and the famous title-winning side of 1960.”
Ella Cummins, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Burnley FC said: “We’re delighted to welcome one of the UK’s leading energy providers in Utilita to the Clarets family. They are a fantastic brand with a strong history in football and we look forward to working with them this season.
“The Football Rebooted campaign is a great cause and we would encourage fans to bring any unwanted football boots to the recycling point at stand this season and help reduce the UK’s carbon footprint."
