The Clarets returned to home turf on Friday night, sharing the points with Sunderland in the 8pm Friday night slot.
Reflecting on the performance, the defender whilst disappointed not to secure the win, stressed the importance of refocusing this week ahead of a challenging run of fixtures against third place Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.
“I’m a bit disappointed to be honest but of course we take the result, we’re one step, one point closer to our aim but of course we had planned more for tonight. We were a bit sloppy on the ball, a bit sloppy off the ball and I think we still had some chances to score a goal, but at the end I think we got even a bit lucky to not concede.
“At the end you have these kinds of days where you are just not at your best and the positive thing is we didn’t lose and we still were still in the game, and we had our chances.
“Now we’ve got to put it away, go again next week and then we have two tough games against Middlesbrough and against Sheffield, so we focus on that. There’s no time to be sad about anything, it happens, and we go again.”

Burnley enjoyed 69% possession and controlled large periods of the game, however despite having chances couldn't find the breakthrough.
When asked if he believed there was any reason in particular for this, or if the international break played any part, he added: “I don’t really think so, maybe because we couldn’t prepare like other games this week because some of us were in training on Thursday only and couldn’t train the whole week with the team. However, it sometimes it isn’t your day and I think today this was the case, you will have these kinds of days in the season because with 46 games you of course have to always be at your best, but sometimes you just have days where it just doesn’t work out that well.
“I still think we didn’t lose; we still got a point and to be fair they did it well, they weren’t bad. They were defending pretty well, pressing pretty good and they had their moments, but we can’t be too stressed, too sad about it now and we go again.”
Taylor Harwood-Bellis returned to the starting line-up having been injured in Burnley's FA Cup Third Round meeting with AFC Bournemouth, with Beyer happy to have his fellow centre back by his side.
“Of course [it’s great to have him back]. I felt really bad for him for him in January because he was having a great season.
“It’s great to have him back. We had with Hjalmar [Ekdal] also someone who did really well, Ameen [Al-Dakhil] and Chaz [Charlie Taylor] who also did a really good job but of course I’m very happy for Taylor, that he’s back, and it shows how important he is for us.”

Burnley's run to the end of the season is challenging, with a week's preparation before a visit to Middlesbrough on the 7th April followed by Sheffield United three days later.
“It’s a big game for us [against Middlesbrough], it’s two big games especially when we play on Monday against Sheffield also, so a big two games coming up. To be honest I’m happy to have now a few days off after the national team break, after the game and then on Monday we go in, focus fully on the games, prepare and try to win the two games.”
With a tough run to tackle Beyer believes a full-strength squad will be needed, with the return of teammates Josh Brownhill and Manuel Benson coming as a relief.
“It’s incredibly important [to have everybody back]. As we always say you need every player in the course of the season, that’s exactly what has been the case this season for us. I think because we have 19 different goal scorers so everybody is having their part in this season’s success and yeah, we need everybody especially for the stretch of the next few games, we play every three or four days, so we need everybody, and I’m completely convinced that everybody will do as good as the other ones.”
