Winger on target again in Turf Moor clash

Manuel Benson continued his fine form on Saturday afternoon as the Clarets secured three points against Middlesbrough.

Despite going behind, Benson netted two for the home side, who keep their spot top of the Championship table.

Speaking post-match, Player of the Match Benson was delighted to contribute to the win and always felt confident that as the game went on the goals would come.

“I’m very happy, because at the end we won. When the 1-0 fell it went a bit dark, that’s why I’m glad we won this game and got three points.

“We were confident at half-time because we were playing good and obviously when you play in the way we play, chances are going to come. In the second half we just kept believing that those chances would come, and they came so I’m really happy.”

Since joining in the summer, Benson has made quite the impact, scoring eight league goals so far this campaign.

“I like it very much [at the Club]. I’m chilling! I can say, people around are very nice to me and like I said from the first day I already felt a nice welcoming and it’s been the same ever since, so I’m glad.”

The Belgian youth international also spoke highly of his development under Manager Vincent Kompany, Assistant Manager Craig Bellamy and the first team staff.

“Of course [on learning under Vincent Kompany], as I said in other interviews, the details he gives me and also Craig Bellamy, it’s really good points to know and take with me into the game. Also at training he asks a lot of me so this keeps me sharp and improving. So, yes I’m curious to see the future.”

Finally, on what was a very cold afternoon at Turf Moor, the number 17 was keen to give a message to the fans for the ongoing support.

“I think they have always been there since the first matchday so it’s really good to see them always. The atmosphere is always nice and even in the snow or in the rain, I think they will be there so I’m really looking forward to the future to share these moments again.”
