Burnley Football Club are seeking caring, supportive, and enthusiastic host families to provide a welcoming home for our aspiring young footballers as they pursue their dreams in professional sport.

We are looking for families based in Burnley, Padiham, Clitheroe, Nelson, and Colne, to offer high-quality, homely accommodation for five to seven nights per week.

Families will look after our U18 Academy players, who have come from various parts of the country and abroad, throughout the football season.

The role includes providing a safe and comfortable home environment, with each player required to have their own bedroom.

Breakfast and lunch are provided at the Club’s training ground, but host families are asked to provide a nutritional evening meal.

You will support the welfare and development of young players living away from home, as well as building relationships with their families and Academy staff.

In return, host families receive a monthly allowance to cover accommodation and meal costs and get exclusive access to Burnley FC first-team match tickets at Turf Moor.

Troy Savage moved country having signed scholarship terms with the Club last summer.

On the impact of his host family, the Northern Ireland youth international said: “Lynn and John are fantastic people and I am so lucky to have been placed with them.

“Being so far away from home, they have made it easy for me to settle with them and I haven’t felt homesick or lonely at all.

“They are lovely to talk to and Lynn has made sure my family back home have been kept up to date with how I have settled which has really helped my mum.”

Second-year scholar and New Zealand youth international Marley Leuluai added: “From day one I couldn’t have asked for more! Steve, Suzanne and the rest of their family have been so welcoming.

“I would describe the care they have given me as unbelievable, and it feels like home from home. I even joke with them now that I belong here with them as I spend more time with them than with my own family.

“They have built a really good relationship with my family, messaging regularly and being friends on Facebook so that they knew I was ok, especially in the beginning as it was my first time away from home.”
