Joe Bauress described his first start for the Club as an ‘amazing’ experience, after the 19-year-old completed 120 minutes in the Emirates FA Cup tie and was involved in two of the goals in the 3-1 win over Reading.

The midfielder, who made his Burnley debut as a substitute in 2022 against Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup, set up the first goal of the afternoon with a delightful cross, before teeing up Mike Tresor to set up the second.

Speaking post-match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium after the Clarets progressed into the next round, Bauress said: “I’m buzzing to be honest. It was an amazing experience for me.

“To get an assist for the first goal then play a part in the second, it was brilliant.

“I want to thank the gaffer, the staff and all the lads for taking me in and making it happen.”

Bauress added: “It was just surreal, being around lads like John Egan, Joe Worrall, Ashley Barnes, and learning from them, it’s brilliant.

“It’s all beneficial being around lads like that, they’re always in your ear and shouting them minor details, but it all helps and I can’t thank them enough.”

Bauress set up the first goal of the afternoon with a perfectly delivered ball into the box, where Lyle Foster waited to pounce and finish.

The teenager smiled: “It came from the corner. I knew the lads would be rushing into the area and Lyle was there to get on the end of it. So, it was nice for me to register an assist.”

Bauress then played his part in the second goal, as the youngster shared a neat one-two with Tresor and the winger picking out Flemming to strike home.

“We had been working on stuff like that all week, cutting it back and being there to finish so it was good to see that pay off and be involved in it.”
