Latest recruit can't wait to get going in the Premier League

Swiss international Zeki Amdouni has said that conversations with Vincent Kompany was the motivation behind his decision to join the Clarets, having signed a a five-year-deal with the Club this week.

The 22-year-old who arrived from FC Basel spoke of his excitement at both getting started in the Premier League and meeting the Clarets faithful - the fans.

“I’m very happy to be here and I’m excited to start.

“The last two months were very important to me; I spoke to the coach, and he really wanted me. Also, I really wanted to work with him, for me that’s the most important. For my career, to choose a good club, where the coach wants you is important to me.”

Burnley's title-winning Championship campaign secured the Club's return to the top-flight at the first time of asking and Amdouni is relishing the chance to test himself against the best of the best.

“I know it’s the best league in the world. It’s not easy for sure but I am confident and with the coach, and the staff, I can do good things here.

“I think I’m a very calm player, I can play in a lot of forward positions and can score goals for sure.”

The striker has shown plenty of prowess in front of goal including in the European U21 Championships, scoring for Switzerland in the tournament's Quarter Final.

“I learned a lot with the U21s and before this I was with the A team, and I also scored many goals. I took experience from this, and I hope I can give this here.

“The second part of the season with the national team and also with Basel was really good for me personally. I was confident and it was really good.”

When not on the pitch, it's still football though.

“I like to play PlayStation, I love watching football, I watch a lot of games and also stay with my family, that’s important.

“I don’t have a favourite team in England but for sure I watch the big games but for me in England this is why I love the Premier League. All the games are big games.”

Last season's success didn't go unnoticed on the latest Claret to join the ranks.

“I watched for sure, when you were in the Championship, I watched two games I think, and I saw the football he [Vincent Kompany] managed was really good. For me, my football, it’s perfect.

“I want to take the most experience from it as possible. To play the game, to learn, and to be a good player here.

“I’m very happy to be here, I’m excited to meet the fans in the stadium.”
