A warm welcome to Turf Moor for our second home match inside four days, as we play host to Watford in the Premier League.
We are now firmly in the busy Christmas period, with another match in less than 72 hours’ time at Aston Villa.
This time of year is always special, with the number of matches in such a short space of time, and it marks a fantastic English football tradition which gets fans from all across the world excited.
We come into today’s match against Watford after securing a well-earned point at home to West Ham United, a team competing in the knock-out stages of the Europa League and currently fourth in the Premier League. West Ham United are a very good side and we competed at a high level, so well done to Sean and the team for putting a well-deserved point on the board.
Tonight, we welcome Watford, and I would like to warmly welcome all of their directors, staff, players, and supporters to Turf Moor, as well as wishing them all a safe journey home after tonight’s game. Watford sit just above us in an extremely tight Premier League table, and we need our 12th man, the Burnley supporters, to be right behind the team once again, as they were three days ago.
The support and togetherness our community has for one another is second to none, and our priority is to ensure Turf Moor is a welcoming and safe environment to watch football.
The Government has introduced further Covid protocols at large public events, to halt the infection rate. We encourage all of our supporters to follow the Government’s guidance and protect yourselves by getting your Covid vaccination injection and your booster jab if you’re eligible to do so.
What supporters will see when arriving at the stadium tonight will be visible Covid ambassadors who will be carrying out spot checks to ascertain Covid passport status.
We are taking reasonable steps to make sure that all supporters aged 18 or above show an NHS Covid-19 pass or approved proof of vaccination to enter the stadium tonight. Alternatively, an appropriate negative PCR or Lateral Flow test within 48 hours of kick-off or a suitable pass of exemption will be permitted.
Please be match ready by having your relevant documentation to hand when you arrive at Turf Moor. We also ask supporters to follow the pre declaration and register your details with the Club via the online form, which can be found via burnleyfootballclub.com
I conclude my notes for tonight’s edition with the news our Women’s first team manager, Matt Bee, will be leaving the club. Matt has played an important role in helping guide the team to The FA Women’s National League. We thank Matt for his contributions and efforts, and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.
We are resolute in our long-term strategy for our Women’s team, and advancing to the highest professional level. We are excited for what the future holds, and will continue to reveal further details in due course, including with respect to Matt’s successor.
Thank you for your continued support and good luck to Sean and the team!
Up the Clarets!
Alan
