Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm that 12 young players have signed scholarship terms ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The group all signed their two-year contracts at a special welcome event with their families at Turf Moor on Sunday 30th June.
Now part of Burnley’s U18s squad, the players heard from manager Tony Philliskirk and Head of Academy Coaching Ash Higgins on the day.
They have now been integrated into the group and are adapting to life as full-time footballers, although many have already experienced U18s football.
Corey King, who plays as a wide forward, has progressed through the Academy system having joined at U9s level.
Albert Blackie can play in midfield or at right back and joined at U12s level alongside Kian McMahon-Brown, the younger brother of second-year scholar Frankie. Kian has represented Republic of Ireland at various youth levels.
Four of this year’s intake joined the Club at U14s level. Alongside goalkeeper Connor Edwards, are left back Joseph Wilcock, centre-back Anwar Murtesa and central midfielder George Brierley.
Brandon Pouani joined from Manchester City at U16s level (2023/24) and has already represented our U21s on several occasions, including in a Premier League Cup tie at home to Fulham. Burnley fought off significant interest from other clubs to sign the winger.
Another player who joined last season is winger Braidin Derbyshire, the son of former Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United striker Matt.
Right-back Michael Stanley joined from Premier League side Everton at U16 level, with central midfielder Fabio So, who qualifies for Portugal, making a similar move from Newcastle United.
Finally, Troy Savage moves from semi-professional outfit Glenavon in Northern Ireland. The central midfielder has represented the Green and White Army’s U17s on four occasions.
Similar to Pouani, the central midfielder had interest from several professional teams but decided to join the Clarets.
