Good afternoon and welcome to Turf Moor for today’s game against Queens Park Rangers.
We’re here following back-to-back away games at Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the travelling fans who made the journeys. We really do appreciate the time, effort and cost entailed in supporting the team up and down the country, and I want you to know your support doesn’t go unnoticed.
It was a great win last weekend and I was pleased with the response we showed to going behind at Hull City midweek. We are eight games unbeaten now and it’s important that we take the positives from this as we head into another test this afternoon.
At today’s game we are supporting the EFL’s Together Against Racism campaign which brings players, fans, and coaches together to proudly showcase how football is united in the fight to remove racism from the game. To mark the campaign, we spoke to Adnan Ahmed from our Inclusion Advisory Group who has been talking about the work they have been doing alongside the Club in this area.
I also want to say a big well done to Josh from our U12s academy, who designed the warm-up t-shirts the players are wearing this afternoon. We held a competition to design the Together Against Racism themed warm-up t-shirts and received lots of fantastic entries from our young academy players and schools that our charity Burnley FC in the Community work with. Congratulations to Josh, our runner up Quentin, and to everybody who entered for embracing such an important campaign.
Burnley Football Club is and always will be One Club For All, and we work hard every day to ensure that Turf Moor is an inclusive and welcoming environment for everybody.
Campaigns such as Together Against Racism are so important. We have a responsibility to use our voice for good and we will continue to use our platform to promote the message that football is a game for everyone, everywhere. As a Club we are strong in our stance that there is no place for racism anywhere.
Finally, you may have seen that our Take Me To Turf competition is back for 2024! We’re giving a lucky fan from the US the opportunity to come over to Turf Moor for a once in a lifetime matchday experience and this year, we’re giving Burnley Season Ticket Holders and Burnley FC Members the chance to win a trip to the US. The lucky UK winner and a guest of their choice will fly to Detroit for a trip that includes VIP Game Day experiences at both a Detroit Pistons basketball game and at Ford Field, home of Detroit’s famous NFL team the Detroit Lions, which has its own Turf Tavern!
The competition is now open, and you have until Friday 22nd November to enter. Good luck Clarets!
With the games coming thick and fast your support is needed now more than ever before. Let’s make sure Scott and the team know we’re fully behind them again this afternoon.
UTC!
Alan
