Alan's notes ahead of this afternoon's game

Good afternoon and welcome to Turf Moor for today’s game against Aston Villa.

It was great to see a packed-out stadium last time out against Manchester City and I’m delighted that we are expecting a full house again today - in fact several of our upcoming home games are sell-outs, which is a fantastic show of support.

Following last weekend’s postponement, it feels good to be back on home turf this afternoon as we aim to put on a positive performance and pick up three points.

While there were many positives to take from our last home fixture, I want to take the opportunity to express my disappointment at the incidents that occurred on the evening. The throwing of an object at Manchester City’s Rico Lewis and the supporter that invaded the pitch in stoppage time, were both unacceptable. The two supporters were identified, removed from the ground, and will now face severe banning orders. I want to make my stance as clear as possible, we will not tolerate this behaviour at our Club. We will not let the reckless actions of individuals affect the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and supporters at Turf Moor.

It's been an incredibly busy few weeks on and off the pitch and I’m delighted that alongside welcoming some new faces to the squad that Anass, Manuel and Josh Cullen have all signed new contracts in recent weeks. All three players played significant roles in our success last season, and I am in no doubt will contribute heavily again this campaign. I’m thrilled to see the squad strengthening in such a way.

I can’t wait to see the squad back in action again this afternoon. Remember, every one of you can play a part in our success today. Bring the noise and let’s make sure Vincent and the players know that we are with them every step of the way.
