Burnley Women are still revelling in the success of their 2025/26 campaign, which ended in promotion to the second tier of the English pyramid for the first time in the Club’s history.

Over the next two weeks we’re going to take a month-by-month look back at the season, highlighting key matches and moments.

Part one of this series looks at August through to the end of December…

AUGUST

The team’s pre-season schedule finished with a friendly against Italian top-flight side Lazio, before Middlesbrough were put to the sword on the opening day of the league season.

Then came a 2-0 victory over Chorley in the group stages of the FA Women’s National League Cup, followed by a goalless draw at fellow title challengers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Burnley finished August at home to Loughborough Lightning, when Mel Lawley’s brace was accompanied by further strikes from Tilly Wilkes, Yana Daniëls, and Thea Paul in a 5-0 victory.

SEPTEMBER

The Clarets enjoyed an equally successful September, winning all three matches by a combined aggregate score of 21-1.

Two of those victories were in the FA Women's National League Cup against tier four opposition in Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers. There were six goals against the former, and 13 against the latter.

Sandwiched in between those two outings were three valuable league points at Sporting Khalsa, in which early goals came from Claudia Mummery-Walker and Millie Ravening.

OCTOBER

A busy October included six fixtures, starting with a 3-0 victory over Hull City and the second of the team’s two league draws all season. It finished goalless at Halifax.

Then came two cup matches in Nelson, with a 6-1 triumph over Norton & Stockton Ancients being followed by 13 more goals against Blackburn Rovers in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

That Blackburn victory was sandwiched between another two vital league victories – 1-0 at West Bromwich Albion, and 3-2 at home to Liverpool Feds courtesy of Aimee Kelly’s 92nd minute winner.

NOVEMBER

By this time of the year the weather was taking a turn for the worse, but that didn’t put the Champions elect off their stride.

After Ravening’s brace earned three points at her former club Stoke City, fourth tier outfit Real Bedford were put to the sword in the FAWNL Cup.

A first trip to Turf Moor this season saw Derby County fall 2-0, and that was followed by a 4-0 victory over Norwich City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

To finish the month, Charlie Chadwick’s 9th-minute strike proved to be the difference between us and Rugby Borough at the Nationwide Windows Arena.

DECEMEBER

There were 10 Burnley goals in just two December matches, starting with a 3-1 league victory at Middlesbrough.

Then came a 7-0 triumph over Peterborough United in the third round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Mummery-Walker netted a brace to round off the 2025 fixture schedule, with further strikes coming from Chadwick, Yana Daniëls, Ravening, Charley Docherty, and Emma Siddall.
