The U18s face the Turkish side today (Friday) at the Evzena Rosickeho Stadium and will be looking to bounce back after Wednesday’s defeat at the hands of Brazilian side Palmeiras.

George watched on from the bench in midweek, but the pacy striker is looking to get off the mark and get the ball rolling for the Clarets in the tournament this evening.

The attacker, who is into his fifth season with Burnley, said: “I’m really looking forward to it. I feel like we can learn a lot from the last game.

"Hopefully we can improve and work on the things that we didn’t do on Wednesday against Palmeiras, and hopefully get the win and kick on from there.”

The temperatures reached a sweltering 33 degrees in the Clarets’ previous group B match and tonight’s forecast is again to hit similar heights by kick off.

However, George admits the side must not get distracted by the difficult conditions and try focus on their game-plan.

He said: “I feel like in pre-season we just have to keep working hard, and obviously the heat will play a huge factor again.

"But we just have to focus on our game and try our best to put aside the temperatures for now.”

And George is hoping his experience and leadership can benefit the first-year scholars throughout the competition.

“I’d like to see myself as a bit of a leader. I remember last year, as a first year, getting helped out by the second years at times," he added.

"So I would like to think that I can pass on what I know and learned last year to help them get through the first year.

"But it would be nice to get a goal or two today as well, so I am looking forward to it.”
