A brace from Fabricio and a 75^th minute penalty from Gustavo was enough for ‘The Big Green’ to take all three points in the group B clash.

With sweltering heat of 33 degrees, both sides struggled to really get going at the Evzena Rosickeho Stadium in Prague.

It was the Brazilian side who had the first chance of the game, as Lucas Ferreira forced Harry Allen into action, with the former Manchester United stopper pulling off a great save.

And with just over 20 minutes played, the game was halted for a drinks break as the temperature reached an all-day high.

And following the resumption, and as the first half came to a close, the South American side took the lead with the first clear-cut opening.

Brazilian U19 international Fabricio pounced onto a loose ball in the area and fired home, after following up Allen’s initial save from Joao Felipe’s strike.

Palmeiras came out raring to go in the second half and came close to a second, as a great block from Edon Pruti denied Joao Felipe their lead.

However, just moments later, last year’s CEE Cup winners had their second, again through Fabricio.

The Brazilian forward this time slotted home from a few yards out to double the South Americans’ advantage.

It didn’t get much better for Tony Philliskirk’s side, as Corey Brennan was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Geovane with 10 minutes to play.

And with five minutes to play, Palmeiras were awarded a penalty, as Kane Patterson brought down Gustavo inside the area.

The substitute duly stepped up and smashed home the third goal of the evening, as the sun began to set over the stadium.

Burnley are next in action on Friday, where Philliskirk’s side will face Turkish side Altinordu in their second group match of the tournament.
