The Clarets host West Brom, who beat Scunthorpe United and Middlesbrough to book a fifth-round spot, at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium in the FA Youth Cup.

Burnley cruised past Curzon Ashton 5-0 in the third-round back in December, before knocking out Mansfield Town in the fourth round earlier this month.

And Philliskirk, whose side will face either Fulham or Manchester City in the quarter-finals if they are successful over the Baggies, admits that it’s the ‘biggest competition at U18 level’ and one that everyone wants to succeed in.

The former Oldham Athletic coach said: “You can’t hide the fact that it’s the biggest cup competition out there for the U18s.

“It’s a competition that everyone wants to do really well in, it generates a lot of interest.

“I have been talking to the lads, about development football and developing as players, but when it comes to the FA Youth Cup, you do really want to win.

“The boys have done magnificent up to now, in the league and cup, it’s going to be a really tough challenge, but we are all really looking forward to it.

“Our application and preparation leading up to games and in the games themselves have been excellent, we have had two tough draws in the first and second round, but the lads have been a credit.

“West Brom are a very good side, they are category one, got international players and have a fantastic set-up.

“But we knew Mansfield and Curzon were going to be tough, it’s going to be a totally different new challenge for us.

“I think in the previous rounds we have been expected to go on and win, whereas this round, I think its 50/50.

“You just never know what can happen, we will have to absolutely everything right and prepare well and see what comes of it.”

It's the first time since the 2014/15 season that the Turf Moor side have reached the fifth round of the competition, whilst reaching the semi-finals in 2012.

And Philliskirk believes that succes in this competition can only boost the Clarets' academy profile and reputation even more.

“It’s great for the profile of the academy as well, it shows how far we have come in the past couple of seasons.

“Even in the time I have been here for just over a year, the academy has come on a lot, you look at the U23s this season and how well they have done, I think it has give the 18s a bit of a drive to do well as well, which they have.

“The real objective for us is to bring the next Dwight McNeil through, but we believe we have some really good quality players in the group.

“Success in a competition in the FA Youth Cup can only raise the profile and reputation even more, so we are looking forward to it", said Philliskirk.
