Club show support for season ticket holder Lucy

At Burnley Football Club we have pledged to help 14-year-old Lucy, a season ticket holder diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer.

Lucy was eight years old when she received her diagnosis, and she underwent two and a half years of gruelling treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

To give her every chance of a future without cancer, through the help of friends, family and strangers, the family raised money to take Lucy to the USA for treatment to help keep her in remission, with the full support of her UK NHS team. The treatment was proving to be successful until sadly, during the very last visit to the USA, scans showed she had relapsed again, and the family’s world has fallen apart.

In the UK, there is no set treatment for Lucy’s Relapsed Neuroblastoma and the chances of beating the disease are becoming even smaller. Despite the NHS team’s best efforts, Lucy’s cancer has continued to spread, and the family are running out of treatments options to fight this horrible disease.

In Pennsylvania USA, Lucy’s Oncologist has put together a combination of treatment for her and since, the family have travelled three times as part of her current treatment plan.

Lucy has to make two more trips to Pennsylvania to complete the treatment plan, which is set to finish in October 2025. However, the family have reached the point where they have exhausted the funds that were left and need support.

Burnley FC have been in touch with Lucy for some time now and ahead of the new season, we want to help get her to the USA for this treatment, to give her the best possible chance of a bright and healthy future.

She is an incredible young lady who has stayed positive throughout her cancer journey. She’d like to be a Paediatric Oncology Nurse when she’s older, to work with children like herself going through a cancer journey.
