Burnley’s Academy was recently represented by U14s players Tadi Murwira and Noah Evans on a multi-club trip to Poland.
The event was the culmination of a season-long project run by the Premier League and the Holocaust Educational Trust called ‘Football Remembers the Holocaust’.
Throughout the season the U14s have been learning about the horrors of the Holocaust and the lessons to be taken for today.
15 clubs from across the Premier League and Championship embarked on a trip to Poland, with Tadi and Noah picked to represent Burnley because of their commitment and engagement to the programme throughout the season.
On arrival in Krakow the players were given a guided tour of the old town before completing a session with staff from the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Later that evening they visited the historic district of Kazimierz, which is commonly known as the Jewish quarter, and learned about the significance of the area and what happened there during World War Two.
On day two the pair took part in a guided tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau, which proved to be a moving and thought-provoking experience.
At the end of the tour they laid a Burnley FC shirt and pennant in a memorial service conducted by the Premier League.
On the experience, Tadi said: “I really enjoyed the workshops and listening to Milena.
“Going to Poland and seeing where what we learned about happened in real life was really interesting and moving. I am grateful for the experience”.
Noah added: “I really enjoyed the whole project; it was an amazing experience. I’ll always remember the tour of Auschwitz and it will stick with me forever."
