10 players from the Clarets academy are currently out on loan across the Football League & non-league pyramid following a busy week of movement.

In a week which also saw Lewis Richardson recalled from his loan at Grimsby Town, Owen Dodgson, Jon Ander Vilar Robinson & Finn Armstrong all headed out to gain experience with new Clubs.

Here’s a round-up of how all 10 fared over the last seven days.

Bobby Thomas (Barnsley)

Thomas and the Tykes were left frustrated on Tuesday when a trip to Exeter City was postponed late on due to a frozen pitch.

The centre back, who has been at Burnley since 2017, wasn’t involved in an in-house game between two separate Barnsley XI’s on Saturday played in front of supporters at Oakwell.

He is set to remain with Michael Duff’s side until the end of the season.

Dara Costelloe (Bradford City)

In Sky Bet League Two, Irishman Costelloe is also on loan until the end of the season with Bradford.

With Burnley since February 2021, the forward played 63 minutes at Stockport County on Tuesday evening in a goalless draw.

Finn Armstrong (Curzon Ashton)

One of those to make a move last week, Armstrong was recalled from FC United of Manchester on Friday, and joined Curzon Ashton on a deal until 26th February.

The full back’s final act for FC was 90 minutes on Tuesday as they won 2-0 away at Nantwich Town.

His first act for Curzon come Saturday afternoon was as an unused substitute in a 5-2 success at home against Farsley Celtic.

Armstrong has been at Burnley since he was 12.

Harry Moss (Barnoldswick Town)

Moss’ youth loan with local outfit Barnoldswick is set to expire tomorrow (31st January). Any potential extension will be announced by the Club if required.

In a seven-day spell which saw Town play three games, the goalkeeper did make his debut.

Not in the squad for Tuesday’s 3-1 win against Golcar United in the West Riding County Cup or Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Lower Breck in the league, Moss’ 90 minutes came on Thursday in a 4-3 defeat to Northwich Victoria, exiting the Macron Cup.

The second-year scholar has been with the Clarets since the summer of 2021.

Joe McGlynn (Kidderminster Harriers)

Scottish youth international McGlynn, who has been at Burnley since he was 12, enjoyed two victories with Kidderminster.

An unused substitute on Tuesday as they took three points from a 1-0 win away at Curzon Ashton, he then started and played 74 minutes in Saturday’s 2-1 success at Peterborough Sports.

The striker’s loan deal with Russell Penn’s Harriers runs until the end of the season.

Jon Ander Vilar Robinson (Padiham)

First-year scholar Vilar Robinson is the youngest of the loanees. He joined Padiham on a seven-day work experience deal on Friday.

The following day, the ‘keeper made his Storks debut and kept a clean sheet as they claimed a 2-0 win away at Burscough.

Joining Burnley aged 13, Vilar Robinson is eligible for Padiham’s home game against Lower Breck on Tuesday.

Lukas Jensen (Accrington Stanley)

Fellow shot stopper Jensen’s loan at Stanley runs until the end of the season.

He was twice an unused substitute last week in the Emirates FA Cup as the Reds beat Boreham Wood 1-0 in a Third Round replay to set up a Saturday lunchtime meeting with Leeds United which ended 3-1 in favour of the Premier League side.

Jensen has been at Burnley since 2019.

Michael Mellon (Morecambe)

Mellon, who has been a Claret since he was 15, enjoyed a week of contrasting fortunes with the Shrimps, who are battling relegation in Sky Bet League One.

Mellon the star as seven Clarets gain minutes in this week’s loan watch

The striker made his Football League debut on Tuesday as a half-time substitute away at Ipswich Town. The hosts were 4-0 up by that stage though, and that’s how it ended.

Handed a first start on Saturday afternoon back at home against Bristol Rovers, Mellon played 73 minutes in a thumping 5-1 win. Morecambe credited him with one of the goals, but official sources elsewhere have confirmed the strike went down as an own goal following a deflection.

Owen Dodgson (Rochdale)

Full-back Dodgson made the move to Rochdale in Sky Bet League Two on Friday, signing a loan deal running until the end of the season.

His debut came 24 hours later at the Crown Oil Arena as Jim Bentley’s side lost out 1-0 to Carlisle United.

Dodgson, who played the full game against Carlisle, has been at Burnley since the summer of 2020.

Sam Waller (Lancaster City)

‘Keeper Waller’s loan with Lancaster is set to expire tomorrow (31st January). Any potential extension will be announced by the Club if required.

He has been a Claret since he was 12, and in the last week continued his record of being ever-present for the Dolly Blues since he moved there in October.

First drawing 2-2 at Radcliffe on Tuesday, City then beat Matlock Town 2-1 at the Giant Axe on Saturday with a 94th minute winner.
