Pires arrived at Turf Moor in the summer of 2024 on a four-year deal from Brazilian side Santos. Born in Sao Paulo, the left-back began his youth career with Corinthians, where he spent 13 years in the academy set-up and signed his first professional deal, before joining Santos in the summer of 2021. After starting out in the U23s set-up for the Brazilian Serie A side, Pires was promoted to the first team which saw him make his professional debut in February 2022 against former club Corinthians. Pires went on to play over 70 games for Santos across two seasons, before joining Spanish side Cadiz last summer on a season-long loan. The Brazilian defender scored his first professional goal in October last year in a 3-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid and featured over 20 times across the 2023/24 campaign. Pires made his Burnley debut in August of the 2024/25 season and quickly became a regular in defence, making 34 Championship appearances and clocking over 2,800 minutes throughout the course of the season.
